ITHACA, N.Y. -- Professor Paul Maza at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine has been given the 2008 Teaching Excellence Award (TEA) in basic science by the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA). This year's recipients were announced at the SAVMA symposium at Tuskegee and Auburn universities in Alabama.
"Dr. Paul Maza is most deserving of this national SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award. Paul embodies the commitment to enthusiastic and innovative teaching in our professional curriculum," said Mark S. Roberson, chair and professor of Physiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. "Perhaps more importantly, Dr. Maza is an excellent mentor and role model to numerous veterinary students here at Cornell University. We are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated educator."
Maza was nominated by Meg Varner '09 and was selected by the TEA Committee of the SAVMA. The awards are chosen and voted by veterinary students based on two nominations from each university, one in clinical science and another in basic science.
